Effective date: 30 July 2026
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Crumb Scout mobile application, public website, support pages, waitlist form, and related services made available by Crumb Scout ("Crumb Scout", "we", "us", or "our").
By downloading, accessing, or using Crumb Scout, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, you should not use the app.
1. About Crumb Scout
Crumb Scout is an educational and organisational support app designed to help users manage everyday celiac-related decisions, including ingredient review, eating-out notes, translation cards, and personal logging. Crumb Scout also provides a public website, waitlist, and support page.
Crumb Scout is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or emergency services.
2. Eligibility and use
You may use Crumb Scout only in compliance with these Terms and applicable law.
If you are under the age required to enter into a binding agreement in your jurisdiction, you may use Crumb Scout only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
You are responsible for ensuring that your use of the app, and any information you choose to enter or share, is lawful and appropriate.
3. No medical or professional advice
Crumb Scout is provided for educational, informational, and personal organisational purposes only.
Nothing in the app should be treated as medical advice, diagnosis, treatment guidance, pharmaceutical advice, dietetic advice, or emergency support.
You should always use your own judgement and, where safety matters, verify relevant information independently using current product packaging, manufacturer information, or advice from a qualified clinician, pharmacist, prescriber, or dietitian.
4. Accuracy and limitations
We aim to make Crumb Scout useful and reliable, but we do not guarantee that app content or outputs will always be complete, accurate, current, or suitable for your circumstances.
Ingredient checks, product notes, restaurant notes, translation cards, Diary filters, calendars, pattern labels, insights, summaries, and exports may be affected by issues such as:
- incomplete or unclear information;
- packaging changes;
- regional formulation differences;
- incomplete or mistyped ingredient text;
- missing context;
- wording that is ambiguous or outdated; and
- user-entered errors.
Crumb Scout cannot guarantee that any food, medication, cosmetic product, restaurant, kitchen, or other product is gluten-free or safe for a particular person.
Repeated labels or associations in the Diary do not establish that a product, place, or situation caused a symptom.
5. User content
You may enter, store, export, and share content in Crumb Scout, including notes, diary entries, symptom information, restaurant records, saved places, and other app content ("User Content").
You remain responsible for your User Content, including for its accuracy, legality, and appropriateness.
You must not use Crumb Scout to store or distribute content that is unlawful, abusive, defamatory, fraudulent, infringing, or otherwise harmful.
6. Local storage, optional sign-in, exports, and sharing
Crumb Scout is intended to store app data locally on your device unless and until you choose to export, share, or connect to another service.
Crumb Scout can be used without an account. Optional email sign-in may be available for existing accounts, but sign-in does not by itself turn local app content into cloud sync.
If you export a backup, share a report, send an email, or otherwise pass content to another destination, that content will then be handled by the destination you choose, and your use of that destination may be governed by its own terms and privacy practices.
An export or shared summary is a separate copy and does not remove the source content stored in Crumb Scout.
Removing an optional sign-in account does not automatically delete content stored locally on your device. You are responsible for deleting local content separately if you no longer want it to remain on the device.
7. Third-party services and device features
Crumb Scout may rely on device features or optional third-party services, such as:
- notifications;
- email or sharing functions;
- optional email sign-in;
- website hosting, waitlist, or support tools.
We are not responsible for third-party services, third-party content, or device-level failures outside our reasonable control.
8. App updates and changes
We may update, improve, modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of Crumb Scout at any time.
We may also update these Terms from time to time. The current version will show the latest effective date. Continued use of Crumb Scout after an update takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
9. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- misuse, disrupt, or interfere with Crumb Scout or its related services;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to any systems or data;
- use the app in a way that breaches applicable law or regulation;
- copy, modify, reverse engineer, or redistribute the app except as permitted by law or licence; or
- use the app in a way that could harm other users, our services, or our reputation.
10. Intellectual property
Crumb Scout, including its branding, design, text, graphics, app interface, and related materials, is owned by or licensed to Crumb Scout unless otherwise stated.
These Terms do not transfer any ownership rights to you. You are granted a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the app for personal, lawful purposes in accordance with these Terms.
11. Support and availability
We may offer app support through the published support channels, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free performance, or a specific support response time unless expressly stated.
12. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Crumb Scout is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.
We make no representations, warranties, or guarantees, whether express or implied, about the availability, reliability, accuracy, completeness, fitness for purpose, or safety of the app or any app output.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive loss or damage, or for any loss of data, business, profits, goodwill, or opportunity arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, Crumb Scout.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under applicable law.
14. Termination
You may stop using Crumb Scout at any time.
We may suspend or restrict access to any related service, optional sign-in account, or support channel if reasonably necessary to protect Crumb Scout, comply with law, or address misuse.
Sections of these Terms which by their nature should continue after termination will continue to apply, including sections on disclaimers, liability, intellectual property, and governing law.
15. Governing law
These Terms are subject to the laws and courts that apply to Crumb Scout and its publisher. Nothing in these Terms limits any mandatory consumer protection rights that apply in your place of residence.
